Welcome to the Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess Boss guide. Here you’ll find every boss for each of the big dungeons and how to beat them. Enjoy. Oh and just as a forewarning, if you haven’t beaten the game yet and want to know who’s the last boss then go back to where you were before.
Forest temple boss, Twilit Parasite: Diabala
When the battle starts you’re greeted by two giant Seymour Krelborn (Go watch Little Shop of Horrors, great movie) from the purple water. First thing to do is to equip the Gale Boomerang, while equipped, lock onto the bombs you see and then target the creatures. After that release the boomerang, watch for an explosive satisfaction. Repeat this with the other one and you’ll complete the first part of this battle.
Second part has you pitted against the main body, which is twice the size as its buds. Dodge the purple sludge it spits at you with side steps and later on, the baboon you got the boomerang from will come to your rescue with bombs. Just do the same thing as before by targeting the bomb with your Gale Boomerang, which the monkey is carrying, and at the same time target the giant monster to knock him down. Afterwards his eyeball will come out of his mouth; that’s his weak spot, just hack away as much as you can until he wakes up. Then repeat the process and you’ll take him down. Congrats you’ve defeated the first Boss of Twilight Princess and have gotten the first Fused Shadow.
Goron mine boss, Twilit Igniter: Fyrus
Upon first inspection, the creature looks a lot like the Balrog from Lord of the Rings, minus the wings. Well, instead of pointing out coincidence between big name franchises let’s get to the guide to beating him. You’d most likely notice the big glowing crystal on his head, right? That’s where you need to shoot with your bow. While he’s stunned, go to the other side and equip the Iron Boots and grab his chain to have him fall over, which will give you a chance to hack away on that very same crystal. Do this two more times and you’ll have beaten the second boss and have gotten the second Fused Shadow.
Lakebed Temple, Twilit Aquatic: Morpheel
This is my favorite battle in the whole game! That means a lot since I dislike water levels with a passion (I’ve died a lot in those levels in various games). When on the opening cut scene intro for this boss I thought, “Hmmm, this looks a lot like the boss (Morpha) from Lake Hylia, seven years later in Ocarina of Time”. It kind of goes the same way in terms of fighting it in the first part.
Part 1. First equip the Iron Boots to sink into the bottom of the floor to start the battle. Keep your distance from the creature’s tentacles and equip the Hook, oops I mean Clawshot, to grab its eyeball and hack away at it. When you first hit the eye it will go inside of the monster, but will go back in the tentacles soon after. Before then it will send fish bombs after you. Take care of those and grab the eye. After another good hit on the weak spot, the boss will retract to his hole. Thought the battle was over? WRONG! The boss will come back, out of his hole in full force. This is Part 2.
Now, it’s time to get close and personal with the giant fish and make some calamari out of it. Unequip your Iron Boots and swim to the boss as close as you can without getting eaten. Be sure to still have the Clawshot equipped and use it to “claw” yourself onto the boss by targeting the eye on its back. If you’ve played Shadow of the Colossus (on the PS2), this will seem all too familiar. Hack away the eye ball, after a few hits you’ll be knocked off the boss and will have to get back on. Do so and repeat the process. You may get kicked off the boss again or you may not. After hitting the boss with the right amount of stabs, you will have defeated the first water boss in Twilight Princess and have claimed the final Fused Shadow.
Arbiter’s Grounds, Twilit Fossil: Stallord
The next boss is a giant skeleton/fossil creature. This battle is another two part fight. The only thing you need to do first is use your new Spinner (my favorite item) and crash into the spine of Stallord to knock him down. You should have the spinner grab onto the rail first to get enough speed to ram the spine and press the B button to crash into it to knock him down a peg or two. Be sure to dodge his fire breath along the way. After the first or second crash the boss will try to protect itself by summoning more minion guys to keep you away from its spine, dodge them as best as you can and crash into the spine again. On the third attack the minions will relocate near his spine trying to prevent you from it, again dodge them (though this third time is very tricky) and crash into him one last time to take him out.
Remember I said this was a two part fight. After the first defeat use the spinner to raise the pillar in the center and lower the sand. Stallord will rise up from his body and will be a big floating head and will smack you down to the lower levels. Now equip the Spinner and ride the rail and start to enjoy a very fun fight, that’s different then any other Zelda battles. When getting close to the top Stallord will show up and shoot fire balls at you, press the B button to jump to the other side to escape his blast. He’ll shoot again which means you should jump again. Keep doing this over and over till you’re close enough to smack into him
This will cause him to fall to the floor. Take out your sword and start hitting the sword on his head Zant planted onto him to really make some damages. After awhile he’ll go back into the air, which means you’ll have to get back onto your Spinner and smack him again. Be sure to dodge the rival spinners that can really hurt on the way; they show up after the first attack. Smack into his head again and do what you did before. It may take a second or third try to take him down for good. It’s a tough battle to get through, you may fall down a few times here and there but it’s well worth the effort for a fun battle. Congrats you’ve beaten one tough son of a gun.
Snowpeak Ruins, Twilit Ice Mass: Blizzeta
Who would’ve thought you be going against a cute harmless female yeti? I sure didn’t but I guess you can’t judge a book by its cover especially if its cover is a piece of the Twilight mirror. At the start of this battle take out you Ball and chain and have it hit Blizzeta, trust me she’s hard to miss, a few times, but with each hit the shell will get smaller and smaller and will morph into a spinning ice disk thing that will hurt you if given the chance. Hit it some more and a cut scene will start where Blizzetas first shell break apart.
Next up she’ll conjure up another shell but this time it will come equip with ice spikes. Run like heck to avoid the first part of these spikes where they drop one at a time onto you but when they all stop falling use the Ball and chain to destroy one or two of them, trust me you’ll be happy that you did. Next she’ll drop them in a circle formation to surround you, use the Ball and Chain to smash an opening (if you haven’t already) and use that to escape, because if you don’t Blizzeta will drop down on you in the center of the circle and cause some damage. If you escaped be sure to use the Ball and chain when she falls down to smack her. This will cause part of her shell to crack but also will have her make more ice spikes (great). Do what you did before by destroying one or two of them after they stopped falling one at a time, and when they fall in a circle use the opening you made to escape and smack her again. Do this one more time to beat her, make sure you have fairy or potions, or even the pumpkin juice that Yeto made for you, you’ll need them. After the third smack with the Ball, Blizzeta will be defeated and the first part of the Twilight mirror will be yours. Don’t worry though you didn’t kill Yeta, just knocked her out only to be awaken by Yeto which will make a love scene between the two, awwww, what a great way to end a battle.
Temple of time, Twilit Arachnid: Armogohma
Yes folks, it’s a giant spider with a name that’s similar to Gohma from OOT, hmmmmm. Just like Gohma you need to use your bow to shoot is giant eye, those bosses really need to do something about their eye being their weak spot. Be sure to hit that eye before it’s given the chance to shoot some sort of plasma laser at you, and that the boss is under the pillar of light right by the giant statues. When you do hit it, it will fall down on its back and try to get back up like a turtle. Take this time and chance to use the dominion rod to bring the giant statue to life and press the B button to have the statue smash its hammer or fist onto the spider to hurt it. After being hit it will jump back to the ceiling and spit out some of its off springs to hurt you, don’t worry it’s the small spiders, not the big ones that are a pain to kill. When there are gone Armogohma will take its chance and fire its laser at you, dodge it and prepare your bow to shoot it down again when it’s at one of the light pillars. Take control of the statues again and smack its back once again, repeat this one more time to take him down. But wait, he’s not dead, he just became a little spider with his eye ball as a back side.
For a fast way of killing him take out your bow and shoot him from afar. He’ll die in a few shots Your reward is another piece of the Twilight mirror, just one more to go after this, but your sacrifice is now your Dominion rod is out of juice and you must get its power back up to go to the next area.
City in the Sky, Twilit Dragon: Argorok
Well it’s no surprise this guy is your boss, you spend most of your time in the city watching him from afar while he just goes and fly around like a big jerk. Now it’s about time to get some payback and claim this city back for the Oocoos. When the battle starts Argorok take off into the sky and you should take off by hooking onto the pillars with the double Clawshots. Keep using the Clawshots from your right and/or left pillar to get to the top, why you can’t climb them is anyone’s guess. When you reach the top or close enough, Argorok will fly in front of you, use you new Clawshot and hook onto his tail and equip the Iron boots to make put weight onto his body where it will cause him to fall to the ground. With each fall a piece of his armor will break. Repeat this again until another part of his armor comes off, Argorok will try a few wind type attacks to push you off the edge, just have the Boots on and the gusts of winds won’t send you away. When the second piece of his armor is gone a bright color thing on his back will be revealed.
After that Argorok will take to the higher skies and rain will soon appear which will make flying plants show up so you can grab onto those when on the top of the pillars. When you grab onto the plants keep using them to get to the other side of the dragon while it tries to breathe fire on you. While it’s sending fire onto one of the plants you’re not on, that’s your chance to get to the other side of him and claw onto is back and hack away at him to cause damage. It will take awhile since he turns while still blowing smoke but once he’s done you can get to his back. When you hit his back enough times he’ll fall too the ground, now don’t think this is another chance to land more attacks, just go back to the pillars and to the plants, Argorok will recover very fast and get back up to the air. Do what you did before, go one from plant to the next, get the other side of him while he’s blowing fire at you, then Clawshot to his back, hack away, wash, rinse, repeat. On the third time he’ll get smarter and will cut you off with his fire breath, forcing you to go to the other side. Do so to reach his back, and attack just a few more times and you’d have beaten one hell of a tough boss, and a dragon no less. For your efforts you get the last piece of the Twilight mirror, now you can go to the Palace of Twilight and face Zant.
Place of Twilight, Usurper king: Zant
Well here we are folks, the fight you’ve been waiting for, Link against Zant. But don’t think this is like any other battle. Zant will use some spell to send you and him to different areas to do battle, first spot is in the Forest temple.
For stage one Zant hover above the deadly purple liquid and shoots purple fireballs at you. Block them with your shield and use the Gale Boomerang to get Zant to you and hack away and repeat. Next stop is Goron mines.
For this battle you’ll be where you met that giant Goron over the hovering ring place and tossed him over the edge to the lava. Zant here will teleport from one place to the other and will jump on the platform to knock you off, but as long as you have the Iron boots on it won’t work, or you can choose not to wear them, your choice. After a while he’ll shoot more fireballs at you, block them and as he takes a break, take off the boots and run towards him and attack. Repeat this and it’s off to your next stop in Air Zant, Lakebed Temple.
Equip the Zora suit, the Clawshots, and Iron Boots for this one. Zant will somehow dig himself into the sand and summon one big statue face of himself to hide in. When the doors open Zant will attack once again with fireballs, but they are slow downed because of the water. Just side step and when you can, Clawshot him out of the helmet and attack him. After awhile he’ll retreat and bring out four big statue faces to hide in. In one of the helmets Zant will appear, the others he won’t so try to pick the right helmet and dodge his shots and Clawshot him again. Do this one or two more times to go back to the Forest temple.
This time in the Forest Temple, you’ll be where you fought Mr. Baboon. Again, dodge his fireballs, what’s with him and fireballs huh? When he’s done, roll into the pillars once or twice to knock him down. While he’s on the floor swipe your sword to hurt him. Repeat this to go to Snowpeak Ruins.
For once Zant won’t be shooting fireballs, instead he’ll become huge. Before you can simply hit him like you did with Blizzeta you’ll have to dodge him first. Watch for his reflection off the ice floor and dodge, use the Ball and Chain and hit his big feet to shrink him down. When he becomes smaller he’ll start running away. Go after him and attack him with your sword, after a few hits Zant will turn big again, repeat what you did before to go some place different.
Now you’re at Hyrule Castle for your final battle against Zant. He’s now equipped with a sword on each hand. Zant as three types of attack, two of which he’ll do to try and knock you into the barrier. You better block his attacks because it’s the only way to get in your own attacks after. He’ll mostly flail around trying to get hits in. Other times he’ll spin like a top, you can’t get any hits on him while he’s spinning but after he’s done give him all you have. His third attack has him teleporting one spot to another while coming at you waving his arms. Be sure to block while also running from him. Patience is the key to winning this final battle against Zant. Just keep blocking his attacks while giving your own to him. After awhile you’d have beaten Zant and freed Midna’s people. But the game isn’t over yet, it seems Ganondorf tricked Zant into believing he was a god in hopes to come back to life. So now, its time to go to Hyrule castle for real and face Ganondorf for good.
Hyrule Castle, Ganondorf
This is it, Link, Ganondorf, Swordsman against Swordsman, Triforce against Triforce, and Elf against, Puppet? Yep Ganondorf pulls a new move and takes over Princess Zelda’s body. That’s right, Ganondorf gets smart.
The battle begins with Zelda simply floating above the ground with her own little sword. She does three attacks. One is where she hurls her body right towards you, she’ll tell you that she’s doing this because she’ll raise her sword up before flying at you; dodge this with a side step. Her second attack is where she summons a glowing triangle under your feet; dodge it with fast sides step. Her third attack is just like old times, she sends an electric ball at you and you’ll have to play hot potato so it will hit her. Each attack is used at random so you won’t know what she’ll use next. Play hot potato (this is the only way to attack her) two more times after the first successful play and Ganondorf will give up on Zelda and turn into a giant boar.
This is an interesting battle. Much like Fyrus, Ganonboarf’s (heh heh, Boarf) weak spot is the crystal on his head. Ganon will start the battle by charging right at you. Take at you bow fast and shoot at the crystal on his hard to knock him down. Be sure to have your shield out so you don’t get hit while he’s sliding. After he stops go to his stomach side and hack away at his belly. After this he will run and disappear. He reappears when one of his portals turns from red to blue, that’s when he’ll charge at you again. At slashing his stomach again Ganon will start vanishing when you try to shoot an arrow at him. This is where you need to change into a wolf. Now as a wolf, pay attention to where Ganon is showing up, his portals and shine blue when he’ll come right at you. As he charges at you, wait until the A button shows up and press that to have Midna grab hold of Ganon, then toggle the joystick left and right, this will cause toss him over. Just like before attack his belly. Continue this until Boar Ganon goes down and changes back to normal.
Time for a horseback battle. The cheap thing about this battle is that Ganondorf will summon Ringwraith’s on horsebacks to try and knock you off Epona. Do your best in dodging them. The whole point in this battle is to get close to Ganondorf so Zelda can shoot her light arrows and stun him, giving you the opportunity to get close and swipe him with your sword. Best bet in beating this is to use the dash as much as you can to get near him but not to have Epona slow down. It’s a tricky fight considering that Ringwraith’s are here to kill you as well. After this battle Ganon will fall off his horse. Link will of course follow him and then get trapped by Ganon, and then it’s a one on one battle between the two.
The final battle *Insert the Final Countdown music*
Here we are, the last battle of Zelda, and it doesn’t disappoint. There is without a doubt the best Ganondorf battle ever. But this is one tough as heck battle. The only strategy that can be given is to use the Back Slice every time. It’s really the only best way to damage him because sooner or later he’ll let down his guard, allowing hit to get in. Just so you know, only the Master sword can harm Ganondorf, nothing else. Dodge his attack like a madman. Hopefully you’ll be given the “Chance”. If you’re far away from Ganondorf he’ll charge after you and an A will appear. Hit that and you’ll go into a cool sword to sword moment. Hit A over and over to win and you’ll be given the chance to lay in several hits. Be patient and keep dodging this attack. You’ll defeat Ganondorf for good in this game. When the final blow comes Ganon will fall onto his back, this is your cue to FINISH HIM, kill him with an Ending Blow and Hyrule is saved.
Congratulations you have beaten Links biggest adventure yet in Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Enjoy the ending credits you deserve it. See you in Phantom hour glass and Zelda 2008
